New News!

Hello Happy People! I am so excited to share some great news.
I finally got a STAND MIXER! Yay! Sort of an early(way early) birthday present for myself! It's been an exciting week at my house. I've been baking, experimenting, mixing, cleaning, and basically falling in love with my new mixer.
I can't wait to share with ya'll all of my goodies!

Let's first begin with these nom noms..

Almond Cookies

Then a second batch with coconuts

These cookies are made with the same dough but one has coconuts while the other doesn't. I also used a cookie cutter for the almond cookies and the one with coconuts I just rolled it into a ball. It's amazing how different these two cookies taste! The almond cookie is soft, buttery, and melts in your mouth, while the one with the added coconuts is sweet, crunchy, and almost caramelized on the bottom. So good!
While I am definitely enjoying my Saturday I can't wait for Sunday to come. My sister and I have a date at Melrose Trading Post. Can't wait to get my thrift on!!

Happy eatings!

Cheers Xo.

My two loves..

Two things that I absolutely love in life are books and food. So I guess it's only natural that I tend to gravitate towards cookbooks. The feeling of renting a new book(at the library), getting cozy in bed, reading each recipe one by one, placing post-its on new recipes to try and THEN making it.. ahh I love it. Here are my favorites for the month of February..

What are some of your favorite cookbooks??

Happy readings my lovelies!

Back to my sugary roots.

I love Korean bakeries. I love the different flavors and techniques that are used for a huge varieties of baked goods and pastries. One of my favorites are these..
Bouchee:
A cross between a lady finger and sponge cake filled with the
most creamiest, lightest, whipped cream.

So it only makes sense that I attempt to make these beauties! These might be hands down the best thing I have ever made. These little wonder cookies just melt in your mouth, leaving you smiling like the sun. Yums. Can't wait to make them again!

Party in My Mouth

Last night my lovely sister and her husband threw a little shindig to warm their new home, celebrate her  29th, annddd for bonus points a pre-pre party for superbowl Sunday. I came a bit earlier to help cook the amazing menu my sister had prepared for the party. Tapas, tapas, and more tapas. One of the best parties I have ever been to. There was endless sangria being poured from pitchers, an amazing plate of cheeses, small plates of food that makes your mouth do a little happy dance, and empanadas! Such good times.

Didn't have a chance to take that many pictures, but here is one before the food was devoured.
The menu consisted of:
bacon wrapped dates stuffed with blue cheese
albodinga (meat balls)
potato bravas
bruschetta with crostini
garlic shrimp
cheeses
charcuterie
empanadas

drools. Can't wait to see what my sister has in store for the next gathering. Thanks sista you rock!

Happy Superbowl Sunday everyone!

Currently reading...

Stories I Only Tell My Friends by Rob Lowe. I cannot put this book down! I can't tell you how many nights that I lose myself into this book to realize it's past 3AM and I have to wake up in a couple of hours for class. But in my opinion it's so worth it. Rob Lowe and his amazing stories has made me a true believer that some people were just born to do something. It's possible that one might realize their true calling at a young age and work really hard as they grow up to make that dream into reality. Or maybe, just maybe they were lucky enough to meet someone who will ultimately change their life forever. Either way having that belief, dream, vision, yearning to be the greatest you can be is a magical feeling. I'm still in the midst of figuring out what I am suppose to do with my life, but everyday I keep my eyes, and ears open for beautiful possibilities. I still strive to be the person I am suppose to be and I can say as the days go by the fire inside of me grows stronger and stronger. But all I know is right now,  this very moment, today,  I am where I'm suppose to be. Tomorrow? Who knows. Patience and believing is all I need.

Happy Saturday!

Stop and Stare

I spent the morning in my backyard trying to make a patch of dirt into garden worthy soil. Not easy my friend. While trying to do so something caught my attention. A beautiful flower growing amongst the very twigs of a tree that once grew nothing. I couldn't help but smile that something so beautiful was right under my nose. This makes me realize how important it is to just stop. Stop what your doing and just see the beauty that is basically everywhere. The sweet smell of freshly baked bread. The warmth of the sun shining down. The vivid red color of a ripe tomato. The list goes on...

Life is grand.

Hope your day is filled with happy sightings!
